NJNBMBAA Years of Service My twelve year journey with the New Jersey Chapter has been filled with service, commitment and dedication to the national organization, the chapter and the individuals whose lives I’ve touched and been touched by. I began my service with the New Jersey Chapter in 1990 as co-chair of the Public Relations Committee and later as the Vice President of Administration. Additionally, I served as Chapter President for five years (1996-2000). My affiliation with the New Jersey Chapter has brought me tremendous personal satisfaction and a great deal of professional growth.
With a great amount of hard work and team effort during my tenure as President, the New Jersey Chapter enjoyed great amount of success and became well positioned to capitalize on opportunities in the new millennium. We created an effective strategic planning process that fostered administrative, programmatic and operational growth and development. A few of our accomplishments during those five years included, an expanded membership base; creation of a web page and an email network; enhanced written communications; the implementation and expansion of our Leaders of Tomorrow Program and our relationship with the Executive Leadership Council to provide guidance and support to high school, undergraduate and graduate students; we provided, on average, $8,000 annually in scholarships; we increased our economic development efforts, including developing a relationship with the Small Business Administration to provide services to small businesses; we reformulated our professional development programming; we obtained our 501(c)(3) status; we more than doubled our corporate partner participation; and for all of our efforts, we were awarded Chapter of the Year for the Eastern Region in 1998.
In the year 2000, during my tenure as immediate past-president, I initiated the formation of the New Jersey Corporate Alliance (a collaboration of New Jersey-based corporations that attended the national conference as a collective unit) in 2000 and coordinated all of the activities related to the national conference. Additionally, I continued to work with the Leaders of Tomorrow Program and raised over $15,000 for the Leaders program operations and scholarships.
I will continue to provide the New Jersey Chapter with the committed leadership and experience necessary to achieve our stated vision of becoming the premier professional development organization in the State of New Jersey.
